CEBU CITY, Philippines— As of this season, the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) will give Filipino basketball fans an early Christmas present in the form of the ability to watch live games from the stands of arenas where the league plays.

The local government unit of Pasay and the Games and Amusements Board have granted permission for the Chooks-to-Go Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League powered by TM invitational tournament that will be held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in 2021 to have a capacity of audience members equal to fifty percent of the total number of seats in the venue.

Today, December 11th, Saturday, will mark the beginning of the invitational tournament, which will consist of six games.

On the other hand, the league administrators have decided that the number of individuals who are permitted to watch the live games inside for the first two days of the tournament as a dress rehearsal would be limited to 1,400 persons.

“We all know that the fans are happy to be permitted back into the SM Mall of Asia Arena,” said Ronald Mascarias, President of Chooks-to-Go. “We all know that the supporters are excited to be let back inside the SM Mall of Asia Arena.”

However, the first two days will serve as a test to determine whether or not we are successful in bringing all of the spectators back to the MOA Arena. “We will progressively bring more spectators in and, if our measures show to be safe, we hope to have 7,500 fully-vaccinated supporters inside the venue come the time of the playoffs,” said Mascarias.

Those who want to attend the games on the first two days of the tournament this weekend will be able to receive one of the over one thousand complimentary tickets that will be given out.

To obtain a free ticket, one must, however, be in possession of a current identification card in addition to a vaccination certificate.

The Iloilo United Royals and the Negros Muscovados will be the first two teams to engage in combat when this league begins its season at 9:30 in the morning.

The league will perform its debut ceremony at twelve o’clock midnight, and MPBL founder Sen. Manny Pacquiao and Mascarias will be in attendance to grace the occasion.

In addition, each of the 22 teams, together with their unique muses, will participate in a parade.

San Juan Knights-Go for Gold finished as runners-up in the Lakan season. After that, the All-Star Bacolod Ballers will face off against the Bacoor Strikers at 4:00 PM, while the AICC will kick off their season at 1:30 PM versus the Val City-MJAS Zenith.
